Below is some information we provided to guide you around the site. We will add more details as we get closer to August, but do feel free to just ask us any questions you have.
The stewards know what is going on and are here to help. Anything you need, please let them know. They can direct you to venues, the train station and taxi ranks, and assist with first aid and hangovers. Alternatively, we have a box office running at Bogan House (No.3 on the map) and you can always stop by Drift Records (No.6 on the map).
Bob The Bus
There is a series of yellow buses called Bob. They will be running shuttle runs from the campsite in Dartington to the top of Totnes High Street (by Drift). It is a volunteer- run community bus operating in Totnes and surrounding rural areas. They are very nice.
Most venues are open and welcoming to under 18s. Unit23 however will be an OVER 18 only venue after 8pm on both Friday and Saturday night. This is not something we have decided, thems is just the rules. If you have young people with you this weekend, they must be accompanied at all times.
Some of the individual gigs will be over-subscribed. We have tried to carefully schedule the events to spread you all out evenly, but let’s face it, some of these artists are playing more intimate shows then they have in ages so it will be crowded. The security and stewards know the building capacities and will not breach this for all of our safety, but they are going to work with you to operate one in and one out so that we can get as many of you into different shows as we can. If you have come especially to see one act, then get there early... this isn’t flippin Glastonbury, you will get to see who you want to, just plan ahead.
We have a zero policy to drugs in any of our venues. If the security ask to search you, please know this is at our request and if you do not have drugs on your person, surely there is no harm in a quick frisk?
All of the venues are licensed premises and will be selling alcohol for your enjoyment. Please do not try to bring your own alcohol into any of the venues...
the security will take it away and give it to us.
On Twitter and Instagram we are called @driftseachange. Our Facebook page is the same address; www.facebook.com/driftseachange. We encourage you to follow us as we will be posting some announcements during the weekend.
There will be a food court. Outside of this, there are plenty of places to eat on the High Street. There are three Indian restaurants, two chip shops, a take away pizza place, a pie shop, a vegetarian restaurant, a tapas restaurant, two wine bars, a mobile pizza van, an Italian restaurant... we’re probably missing more. Investigate the High Street.
New Lion Brewery
Anyone wearing a Sea Change wristband is welcome to a 10% discount at the New Lion bar. Further to this, they will be hosting some very special and intimate live sessions at the brewery, be sure to follow @NewLionBrewery on Twitter for those announcements. Last year they created a very special British Sea Power IPA... what do they have planned in 2017?
The Bay Horse Inn Beer and Cider Festival
The Bay Horse (No.8 on the map) are running their much-loved beer and cider festival through the Sea Change weekend with over twenty guest ales and fifteen guest ciders, all sourced from across the lands.
There will again be a camp site available in the neighbouring Dartington Estate. Tickets will go on sale in the Spring but there is NO RISK of missing out, so if you want to camp, you will be able to.
The Totnes Brewing Company
The Barrel House Ballroom sits neatly on top of the The Totnes Brewing Company, craft beer bar and local producer. They have also created a special Sea Change beer that will be available on tap all weekend.
There will be regular appearances and signings at Drift during the weekend. There will be a daily blackboard so keep checking back, oh, and check those social networks yeah, Drift are @driftrecordshop
Torbay is about 6 miles away. So that is Paignton, Goodrington, Broadsands and Torquay beach front. You can get buses to and from. If you want to go further afield, there are some beautiful (more rustic) beaches... search for Thurlestone Sands (14 miles) , Blackpool Sands (8 miles), Slapton Sands (11 miles), Bantham (16 miles) and Bigbury on Sea (18 miles).
The train station is a ten minute walk from the centre of town and is indicated (with a best route) on the map.
The last trains on Friday night are: Exeter - 00:22 (Platform 2) Plymouth - 23:43 (Platform 1)
The last trains on Saturday night are: Exeter - 21:44 (Platform 2) Plymouth - 23:16 (Platform 1)
