Families at Sea Change

The Sea Change Festival is deliberately curated to present music, literature, arts and inspiring events to people of all ages. As the parents of young people ourselves, we want very much to be a welcoming space for families to share the weekend. Sea Change is an event where your young people can not only be kept busy and entertained with activities specifically aimed at them, but also experience formative art and music with the rest of us.

Firstly, ALL of our venues are ALL ages, so you can take your young people to any and all of the spaces and shows that you feel suitable. With some ear defenders on, there is absolutely no reason that they won’t take just as much enjoyment from seeing Black Midi, Gruff Rhys and Bagpuss as any of us.

Secondarily, to encourage a youth participation (especially in the region), children under 12s are FREE, and back in 2018 we introduced a young person ticket (for ages 12-18) that we have consistently looked to keep at the lowest possible price.

Totnes went through a sea change into something rich and, in the best possible way, strange. Unique, friendly and inspiring, Sea Change was truly special and “full of noises, sounds and sweet airs, that give delight”

During the weekend, there will be specific family based attractions with Dawn’s Art Cart hosting make-and-do arts and crafts (using sustainable supplies from G. F. Smith papers) and our good neighbours Sound Art Radio will be running drop in family radio workshops to learn the podcasting ropes.

They are all free to attend for children of Sea Change Ticket holders.

There will also be some more exciting things to be announced before the next festival, building on the physical activities and installations we introduced in May 2019 promoting awareness towards sustainability and the environment.
