No better time than this week to focus on H. Hawkline as he has not one, but two new records on the shelves at Drift.
As part of the same hyper-collaborative Welsh psych scene as Cate Le Bon and Sweet Baboo, H Hawkline (aka Huw Evans) will be joining us for Sea Change this year as part of the amazing Heavenly Recordings show on Saturday. This week sees the release of his fourth solo LP, I Romanticize, recorded at Samur Khouja’s Seahorse Sound studio in Los Angeles, with Samur, Hawkline, and Cate Le Bon sharing production duties. "They were the absolute best people for the job, and I also happen to be lucky enough to call them friends, without their hands and ears, the wet clay would have collapsed."
And the second release. We're psyched to have copies of a very exclusive 12". Hand stamped and numbered from an edition of just 100 copies in screen printed sleeves.
Artwork by H. Hawkline himself, clearly a man who keeps busy. He has embarked on hundreds of projects over the last few years, but most recently (and we're talking like, this week!) he has designed the front cover of the next Rough Trade magazine and been out on the road backing Aldous Harding live with 'the odd backing murmur, electronic keys and additional guitar'.
Hugely inventive music and the most singularly charming and disarming delivery. Huw will be playing solo at Sea Change in a very special intimate show under the Heavenly flag. We can't wait!
