Hater at Sea Change

Malmö quartet Hater joined us at Sea Change 2018 playing live at the Civic Hall and also stripping it back at the New Lion Brewery for a session. We even worked with the band to include a Flexidisc in the official program whilst we had them in town. Our go-to man Jay Bing followed Caroline, Måns, Adam and Lukas around town with his Olympus mju-ii to capture their weekend.

Their debut LP ‘Siesta’ was released last week and was rather predictably the Record of the Week at Drift. Whilst stocks last there are signed copies of that Flexidisc at Drift in person and online…

you can see proof of them being signed below.

really some of the most gloriously melancholic pop. It’s a brilliantly balanced LP. It’s optimistic and quietly euphoric, but on the surface at least, everything would seem maudlin. The vocals (especially in unison) are lush, some expert instrumental touches (synths, flashes of sax) and the baselines are utterly brilliant. Love this, will be our Autumn go to jam.

New Lion Brewery Sessions

Mostly so that we can again claim to have organised a 'piss-up at a brewery', we're delighted to be working with the local New Lion Brewery for a set of live sessions from their tap room. The brewery has hosted live sessions previously during Sea Change from Seamus Fogarty, James Yorkston, Alasdair Roberts, Ultimate Painting, Jim Ghedi, The Proper Ornaments and Ryley Walker.

This year they will be joined by;

5.00pm – Hater
6pm – Penelope Isles

2.00pm – Red River Dialect
3.30pm – Saint Leonard’s Horses

As usual, gigs are free, open to anyone whether they have a Sea Change wristband or not, although if you do have a Sea Change band it will get you a 10% discount at the bar.
